This is important because these are desirable in blackjack. The primary way to do this is to assign a number count to the cards that are dealt out.
What is important to remember is that you must assign a plus or a minus depending on the card. For instance, for every low card you add a number. This means that should a deuce, five and three come out you will have a plus three. For middle cards you do not add anything. For high cards you subtract. When the count is high the odds that you will get a face card rises exponentially.
What you will need to keep in mind is that if the casino is using a single deck to deal you should be very happy. This is a rare occurrence and the norm is to use three or four deck shoes. The more cards the more likely that the count will not be as helpful. It can still be used though and a person should not think that it is impossible to beat these games.
The next important thing to remember is that while card counting is not illegal it is not something that the casino does not want you to do this. If they even suspect you of doing this they can ban you from the casino. Therefore it will be to your advantage to be very sly when card counting.
This means that you should be careful your bets. If you only bet huge when the count is high then you might get caught. You will need to bet smart. You need to bet more when the deck is heavy with face cards, but try not to be too obvious about it.
